A great opportunity has arisen for a full time (37.5hrs/week) newly qualified or experienced Dietitian to join our team of 26 Dietitians and support staff. This position is in the Adult Community Dietetic Team which manages a varied caseload, with strong clinical supervision, and opportunity for involvement in projects. We also have specialities such as paediatrics, diabetes, home enteral feeding and neurology within our department, providing opportunity to gain insight in a variety of clinical areas.
We work from 2 main office bases, one in the north (Chippenham) and one in the south (Salisbury/Wilton) of the county, as well as easy access to desk spaces in other locations around the county. We have excellent administrative support and regular CPD opportunities. This Band 5 Community Dietitian post will provide clinical support to adult patients in outpatient clinics (face to face, Airmid - virtual, and telephone), inpatient community hospital wards, and care home settings across Wiltshire. The post may also include group education sessions and home visits. Our outpatient clinics provide exposure to a wide variety of clinical areas including coeliac disease, IBS, IBD, pancreatic enzyme therapy, type 2 diabetes and nutrition support. Wiltshire has four community hospital wards including Stroke Rehab which are covered by 2 band 5 dietitians in the team.

Main Responsibility
1. To provide a service to inpatients, outpatients, groups and to patients in their own homes appropriate to experience and guidance from senior dietitians.
2. Service provision can be based working from home, with the flexibility to use team office bases at Chippenham and Wilton.
3. Within the team, face to face clinics and inpatient cover is provided in community hospitals and community health centres, including Chippenham, Wilton, Salisbury, Amesbury, Warminster, Melksham, Trowbridge, Devizes, and Savernake.
4. To provide training and education on nutrition, nutrition screening and diet to nurses, other health professionals and patients.
5. To undertake student training, menu analysis, audit and other departmental tasks as appropriate to role.
6. Responsible for a clinical caseload of patients, with a range of conditions, requiring competent clinical practice for inpatients and outpatients.
7. Individually responsible for assessment of need, determination and monitoring of treatment or requirements. This will involve nutritional diagnosis, interpretation of biochemistry, anthropometrics and clinical condition, with guidance and support from more experienced colleagues as required.
8. Communicates complex information effectively to a variety of people, in a variety of settings and utilise motivational, and counselling skills, to try and overcome barriers and change behaviour.
9. Takes responsibility for ensuring that patients and carers have consented prior to dietetic intervention, in line with professional guidelines.
10. Considers the practical implications of advice and tailors information to the individual circumstances of the patients, families and staff involved.
11. Works with catering colleagues regarding the provision of inpatient food and beverages, including menu analysis, public health messages, supporting national nutrition and hydration initiatives supporting delivery of the Wiltshire Health and Care Nutrition and Hydration Policy.
12. Ensures that appropriate internal and external agencies have the necessary information to support meeting individual needs.

The Ideal Candidate
The Ideal candidate will have:
1. Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent acceptable for registration with Health and Care Professions Council e.g. BSc Dietetics
2. Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
3. Experience of in and out-patient dietetics in NHS setting.
4. Experience of working with MUST or similar screening tool
5. Evidence of understanding the roles and responsibilities of the post
6. Experience of working within a team
