Position
As our company continues to grow, we are excited to announce the recruitment of a Transport Planner based at our Stoke site. The main purpose of the role:
1. To plan the national and local vehicle and trailers resources in the most cost-effective and compliant manner, achieving profitability and service excellence.
2. Plan and allocate all national and local vehicle and trailer resources ensuring optimum utilisation and profitability within the constraints of cargo availability, vehicle availability, customer requirements, and legal restrictions.
3. Prepare and produce Vehicle and Load Manifests and customer paperwork and present to the Warehouse and assigned drivers.
4. Provide the main point of contact for the national drivers.
5. Liaise and communicate with internal and external customers.
6. Transport administration and data update within various operating systems.
7. Assist the National Transport Supervisor in the management and allocation of the fleet's headcount.
8. Provide a friendly and helpful Driver Reception service, greeting each driver and allocating their vehicle keys and Manifest of work up, until the main shift commences.
9. Support and actively participate in answering incoming calls.
10. Be reactive to daily problems and be prepared to be reactive to emergencies.
11. Any duties/tasks as requested by your Line Manager or a Director.
12. Vehicle costings, revenues, and profitability.
13. Sub-contractor use and costs.
14. Drivers overtime.
15. Have a clear understanding of the Company's policies, procedures, and vision and how the Transport and Fleet Departments contribute and comply with these.
16. Ensure that Drivers Hours and Working Directive Regulations are adhered to by all drivers and mobile workers and that accurate records are maintained in accordance with the Company's legal obligations.
17. Ensure vehicles are not overloaded.
18. Vehicle and drivers' cards are correctly downloaded in accordance with Company procedures.
Experience
1. General Haulage route planning.
2. Routing and management of 30+ vehicles.
3. Previous experience with Freight Forwarding, Groupage, Supply Chain Transportation, or Distribution.
Knowledge & Skills
1. Vehicle weights and legal limits.
2. Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive Regulations.
3. Operators Licence obligations, undertakings, and Regulations.
4. Road Traffic Laws.
5. Construction and Use Regulations.
6. Vehicle costs.
7. Microsoft Word and Excel at entry level.
