Job Opportunity: Workforce Advisor - Absence Focus
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Workforce Advisor to join our team and play a key role in providing high-quality workforce services, with a particular focus on managing absence. In this role, you will work closely with the relevant Workforce Manager for your operational area, ensuring our people management policies and procedures align with company strategy and objectives.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
* Absence Management: Manage and deliver a complex caseload of absence cases, ensuring compliance and effective resolution in line with company policies.
* Employee Relations: Have attention to detail to support investigations with operational management in regards to disciplinary and grievances to a high standard.
* Policy & Procedure Development: Ensure people management policies and procedures are effective and up to date, supporting the delivery of our organisational goals.
* Professional Workforce Support: Provide expert advice and guidance to both managers and employees, fostering a positive and compliant workplace environment.
* Projects: Undertake specialist workforce-related projects and initiatives, driving improvement and change across the organisation within your operational area as required, for example upskilling, policy training and recruitment drives.
What We're Looking For:
* Strong experience in workforce management, specifically in absence and attendance.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise and influence at all levels.
* Ability to handle a complex and varied caseload with a solution-focused approach.
* Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working on projects as well as day-to-day operations.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Highly specialist knowledge of a range of HR related topics acquired through an appropriate HR degree of professional CIPD qualification.
* Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
* Trained Coach.
* Workforce planning qualification or significant experience.
Knowledge and Skills
* Highly specialist HR knowledge, including current Employment and Data Protection legislation.
* Up to date knowledge of employment law and national NHS HR, training and leadership strategies.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
* Resilient and the ability to maintain performance under pressure.
* Developed persuasive, influencing, negotiation, motivation, empathetic, reassurance, diplomacy and problem-solving skills.
* Vision and strategic thinking.
* Organisational Development knowledge and experience of leading cultural change.
* Skilled Group facilitator.
Experience
* Experience of leading a workforce/training function in a complex organisation.
* Experience of leading the people management issues relating to significant change processes, leadership initiatives and projects.
* Experience of successfully building effective relationships and networks, including within the HR profession and with trade unions/staff side organisations.
* Experience of working effectively within a highly unionised environment.
* Experience of working in other public/private sectors.
