Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Cable Technician to join our team in the OCONUS location. The successful candidate will provide technical support and will be responsible for supporting operational deployment and tests on newly installed cable, telephone, and fiber-optic systems. Additionally, the candidate will perform maintenance on existing cable systems.
The selected candidate will have hands-on experience with digital cable boxes, satellite television dishes, and computer network equipment and cables. The successful candidate will ensure that cable systems are fully operational and designed to meet client and technical specifications.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Troubleshooting and repairing cable system infrastructure.
2. Installing data and voice cables for business cable television and router/switched systems.
3. Upgrading existing cable television and internet systems.
4. Providing support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of connected systems.
5. Providing Tier III engineering support to globally distributed services teams and customer base.
6. Interfacing with agency and non-agency sites via emails/phone to walk them through hands-on troubleshooting.
7. Working flexible hours, staying until the job is completed (mission is restored).
8. Communicating with other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design to assure project completion.
9. Conducting site surveys and documenting the same.
10. Traveling to support cable deployments of various types of cable (copper/fiber) CONUS and OCONUS, as needed.
11. Participating in customer meetings as needed for systems discussion and providing feedback to Managers and other members on requirements and improvements.
12. Using a ticketing system (ServiceNow) to review and process requirements.
13. Installing copper/fiber, terminating, and testing using Certified Testing Equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
1. At least 4 years of experience in low voltage cable repair and installation.
2. High level of understanding of site drawings, prints, schematics, and room layouts.
3. Knowledge of the TIA/EIA color code for copper and fiber cabling systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. 10 years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Clearance Requirements:
Must have a current/active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
2. Occasionally move about inside the office to collaborate with other leaders/teams, use standard office automation equipment, and virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
3. Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
4. Climbing up and down numerous size ladders and working under a raised floor environment.
