Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Band 6 Specialist Nurse within the Paediatric Rheumatology Service. This is a Regional service offering diagnosis, treatment and support to children and young people with a variety of Rheumatological conditions.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be a valued member of the MDT and work within the wider hospital to deliver nurse-led clinics, investigations, treatment, and counselling to children, young people, and their families. The post holder will work within the values and beliefs of MFT to ensure a high-quality, efficient, and caring service is delivered. The post holder will be committed to providing high-quality care to patients and helping them to make the right decisions about their treatment options, with the skills to guide and advise them throughout their treatment journey.
The post holder must demonstrate excellent communication skills from working with the wider MDT and with children, parents, and families. The post holder will be competent and confident in the management and administration of medications and have clinical skills to support the delivery of direct patient care. The post holder must be able to work well under pressure and have experience of developing a service and/or experience with managing/supervising nurses in practice. This is a proactive and developing service seeking those with a desire for innovation and service improvement.
The successful candidate will be part of an established nursing team and will be supported by the Band 7 team leader. A comprehensive training and induction programme will be provided for successful candidates. We will also ensure that you have tailored, individual personal development plans with support for further training.

Qualifications
* Relevant Professional Qualification
* Teaching Qualification
* Educated to diploma + level
* Evidence of level 3 study
* Graduate or working towards first degree in health-related subject.
Experience
* Band 6 practitioner level experience with significant exposure to relevant speciality in Rheumatology service.
* Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice/speciality
* Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development, both clinical and managerial
* Evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups
* Experience in the use of cytotoxic drugs
* Experience in working in clinic/ COPD environment.
* Experience of working in Paediatric Rheumatology
* Competent in the administration of Cytotoxic medication such as Methotrexate and Cyclophosphamide
* Evidence of proven clinical record
* Maintained development of clinical leadership skills
* Evidence of diplomacy and negotiation skills
* Able to demonstrate imaginative and effective use of resources
* Able to articulate personal development needs
* Demonstrates knowledge of audit/research recommendations
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Evidence of involvement in change management
IM&T:
* Aware of applications of IT packages such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
* Good knowledge of clinical information systems - HIVE
