Systems Architect
Location: Surrey
Salary: £70,000
Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Architect to lead the design, development, and integration of complex hardware and software systems. The Systems Architect will act as the technical leader and big-picture thinker, ensuring that all system components—including hardware, embedded systems, and software—work together seamlessly to achieve project goals. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan the Overall System Design:
o Develop a blueprint for how hardware, software, and embedded systems interact and integrate.
o Define technologies, tools, and methodologies to be used in system development.
2. Define System Requirements:
o Analyze project needs and establish clear system requirements.
o Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
3. Guide and Support Engineering Teams:
o Work closely with software, hardware, and embedded engineers to align designs and code with system architecture.
o Act as the technical expert to resolve complex challenges and conflicts.
4. Ensure System Compatibility:
o Verify the compatibility of hardware circuits, embedded processors, communication interfaces, and software components.
o Lead integration testing to ensure seamless operation.
5. Evaluate and Approve Designs:
o Review technical designs, simulations, and prototypes to meet performance and quality standards.
o Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
6. Monitor Progress:
o Oversee development and testing phases to ensure project milestones are met.
o Address bottlenecks or risks that may impact system delivery.
Experience & Skills Required:
1. Technical Expertise:
o Strong understanding of hardware systems, including microprocessors, circuits, and programmable logic devices.
o Proficiency in embedded systems programming (e.g., C, VHDL).
o Familiarity with schematic entry tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence) and hardware description (e.g., VHDL).
2. Systems Thinking:
o Proven experience in designing and integrating complex systems.
o Ability to foresee how different system components interact and ensure cohesion.
3. Leadership and Collaboration:
o Demonstrated ability to guide and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
o Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
4. Problem-Solving Abilities:
o Expertise in identifying, debugging, and resolving hardware-software interaction issues.
5. Experience:
o 5+ years in hardware, software, or embedded system engineering roles.
o Industry experience in embedded systems, electronics, or similar fields.
