Job overview
An exciting opportunity is available for a Pharmacy Technician to join the prison healthcare team at HMP Cardiff. A contribution into a rota for Weekends/Bank Holiday is required.
As a prison Pharmacy Technician and working as part of a skilled and committed Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will have a real opportunity to make a difference to the men who will be accessing healthcare with a wide range of chronic mental and physical health problems, including substance misuse problems.
Main duties of the job
About the prison
HMP Cardiff is a category B remand prison, with an operational capacity of around 800 located in the centre of Cardiff, with good transport links.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council.
* NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services with BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent Post qualification training.
* Accredited Checking Technician Qualification (meeting the National Framework) or willingness to undertake this qualification.
* Knowledge of handling hazardous substances.
Experience
* Custodial Pharmacy experience.
Skills
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Ability to apply knowledge gained to the workplace.
* Maintain confidentiality.
* Flexibility to change.
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).
* Welsh Speaker.
Special knowledge
* Ability to work flexible hours.
* Satisfy mandatory security clearance.
* Able to travel within geographical area.
* Resilient, self-motivated with drive and vision.
* Ability to work on own initiative and manage a range of priorities.
