JOB TITLE: Portfolio Technical Manager LOCATIONS: UK National REPORTS TO: Divisional Director Technical Services ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE The Portfolio Technical Services Manager is to support the Engineering Teams on the client contracts and other stakeholders in the delivery of all services within the scope and provide shoulder to shoulder technical service input as required in order to enhance the credibility of ABMs engineering capability within the business. Liaison with Contract Managers and be the key point of contact for Client to ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with site policies and procedures and within health and safety legislative requirements. Undertake Authorised Engineer / AP duties, on site, is available for support out of office hrs. Also will lead the drive to propose and create innovative solutions and a proactive approach to Asset management and create a Technical Service Plan for all sites to include Asset Lifecycle for which they will be the lead The Technical Manager will act as the focal point for all technical matters and will provide portfolio wide technical support with site specific works, training or such other times deemed necessary. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provision of technical support and provide day to day advice where needed to client as well as the on site teams Technical liaison for all site team, clients and apprentices, to aid technical development, communication with tutors portfolio familiarisation, training plans etc Management of the technical team across the UK portfolio as directed. This would include coaching and mentoring members of the team delivering services Provide development instructions and guidance for staff where appropriate in the use of own technical ability, knowledge within the limits of their competence all in accordance with the ABM Technical Solutions Safe Working Procedures and clients local working rules Ensure that all sites are always statutory and mandatory (contractually) compliant for services delivered within scope Overview of Technical Sub contractor renewals where within scope of role Interact with customers and take positive action to ensure that the company is the supplier of choice for all services within our scope of offering. Contribute to the overall management of the business, develop good relationships with all persons/parties associated with the company Ensure that all written communication represents a professional image to customers, and staff Actively seek and identify opportunities for innovation and business improvement measures within responsible contractual areas Be prepared to undertake investigations of incidents or accidents to ensure impartial and technical advice and direction to ensure as far as possible the incident or accident does not occur again Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by senior management in order to meet the operational requirements of the business To ensure that systems and processes are in place to ensure compliance to agreed ABM standards To ensure that engineering staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to the agreed ABM standards and that they are suitably trained to conduct activities Manage company technical accreditations that are in scope of role REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE IET, CIBSE, or IOSH Certificate in Managing Safely High level of practical knowledge of relevant employment, Health and Safety and general legislative requirements Experienced at a professional level I Eng Level with a proven track record of building services management and building asset (plant and equipment) operations in a complex building services environment Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to all levels within the company proven experience of managing employees within a service environment and maximising the performance of their team Experience of direct labour management of subcontracting staff Minimum of City & Guilds Craft Qualification Certificate and demonstrable experience in a trade discipline, working to or obtained IET or CIBSE membership Computer literate numerate and literate with developed communication skills Flexible with the ability to work under pressure whilst looking for continual improvements to service delivery Ability to grasp requirements effectively and to relate to the service provisions of the Contract
