Data Management Officer – REF 1113 (Data Management & Governance)

The role: My client oversees the investment of pensions assets. They deliver long-term sustainable investment outcomes for client funds, building long-term partnerships through working collegiately, in a sustainable and transparent way. They are an FCA regulated investment company delivering through both internal and external management within several investment vehicles.
This new Data Management Officer role sits within the Technology and Resilience function. Operational resilience ensures the business has effective and robust controls and provision in place to manage its business resilience including disaster recovery, business continuity, cyber security, information security and the management of ICT material outsourcing. Data Management ensures the effective oversight and optimisation of data across the business.
The purpose of the Data Management Officer is to work with the Data Manager to provide operational expertise and support for the organisation’s data management to ensure that data related business requirements are designed, built, and deployed in line with its Data Strategy, providing data analysis and tactical support to the business to meet business objectives. Support the delivery of data governance and business intelligence across the business.
Role Specific Accountabilities
Data Management
* Work closely with functions and data owners to understand information needs and requirements and translate business requirements into effective queries and analysis.
* Support the Head of Technology & Resilience to ensure data requirements are designed and embedded across the business, including regulatory requirements, and compliance with the agreed ICT operating model.
* Collect, clean, and analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
* Utilize statistical methods to extract meaningful insights from diverse sources of information.
* Support compliance with information handling, to ensure it remains effective and agile across the business and regulatory requirements are met in relation to storage, retention, deletion and classification.
* Contribute to the Electronic Document Management System, ensuring an effective structure and metadata, compliant access controls, reporting and operational oversight.
* Contribute to effective colleague awareness and training in relation to data management.
* Monitor and analyse information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.).
* Support the investigation and remediation of data-related problems, draft or peer support proposed maintenance or modifications.
* Work with the Data Manager to ensure data science tooling is efficient and consistent, allowing colleagues to utilise the latest Business Intelligence technologies.
Data Governance
* Support the Head of Technology & Resilience to ensure effective data governance, including policies, standards and procedures.
* Work in the business to establish and enforce data quality standards to ensure accuracy and reliability across the organisation.
* Support the Data Manager to oversee the Data Governance Operating Model and day-to-day delivery of data governance tooling.
* Ensure new and existing data assets, products and services adhere to relevant policies, standards, and controls.
* Prepare and load reference and master data into core systems, to determine workflow and reporting.
* Actively drive engagement and awareness of data governance across the business.
Other
* Identify risks in own area of responsibility, recognise risks in all areas of the business and notify any such risks to your People Manager and the Operational Risk Manager.
Requirements:
Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of Data Governance Principles and best practice.
* Experience & knowledge around data management techniques, including operational analytics and assurance reporting.
