Principal Building Safety Manager Daily Rate: £600 via umbrella Location: Based within Growth and Regeneration Job Type: Contract We are seeking a Building Safety Manager to ensure the safety of our homes and neighbourhoods through strategic, operational, and financial management of building safety. This role is crucial in supporting the Head of Service by developing long-term plans that prioritize resident and community safety and compliance across key areas including Fire Safety, Asbestos Management, and more. Day-to-day of the role: Lead the development and delivery of a robust building safety management regime, ensuring compliance and effective performance reporting. Coordinate the collection and management of building safety data to maintain compliance and enable timely actions. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures in line with Service EQFM approach, updating them as necessary to reflect changes and best practices. Develop a risk management approach across key compliance areas, ensuring integrated and effective responses. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting building safety, ensuring staff training and support. Advise on breaches of standards and plans for resolution. Champion the delivery of the Asset Management Strategy to meet the Kirklees Housing Standard. Oversee a team of building safety specialists and manage line managers within the structure. Engage with residents about building safety, helping them understand strategies and their roles in safety. Monitor and support the commissioning and procurement processes to ensure quality and value for money. Oversee complaint investigations, ensuring efficient resolution and strategic improvements. Required Skills & Qualifications: Extensive management-level experience in Compliance and Building Safety within social housing. Degree in Construction, Built Environment, or Project Management, or equivalent experience. Professional qualifications like MCIOB, MRICS, PMP are desirable. Proven track record in data management, performance reporting, and risk profiling. Strong leadership, project management, and delivery skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines. Knowledge of Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, and Safeguarding legislation. Ability to work flexibly and independently, managing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience with elected members and political awareness is desirable. Must be able to travel across various locations; a valid driving licence is desirable. Benefits: Competitive daily rate of £600.
