Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday with late night and weekend work when necessary)

National Merchandise, a division of the Nottingham Ice Centre Limited, works in some of the UK’s biggest venues, including the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, The O2 London, AO Manchester, OVO Hydro Glasgow, M&S Bank Liverpool, 3 Arena Dublin, and SSE Arena Belfast.
Starting January 23rd, 2025, we will welcome National Merchandise (Sweden) AB, working in venues such as the Strawberry Arena, Tele2 Arena, Hovet Arena, Avicii Arena, and the Annexet.
We also collaborate with major non-venue and festival organizers, bringing merchandise to music and entertainment fans at events like Download, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Isle of Wight, British Summer Time, Glastonbury, Camp Bestival, Electric Picnic, and Leeds & Reading festivals.
We are looking for a Commercial Assistant to join our head office team.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager and supporting the National Merchandise (NM) management team, the Commercial Assistant will be responsible for planning, purchasing for, and closing NM non-venue and festival operations, as well as compiling financial reports as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work with the Commercial Manager to create and update purchasing plans and event P&Ls for all non-venue events and festivals.
2. Compile comparison reports for venues on a quarterly basis to distribute to venue contacts.
3. Collaborate with the Commercial Manager and NM Management Accountant to compile closing non-venue and e-commerce settlements.
4. Create debrief presentations detailing sell-through rates and operational highlights and changes.
5. Work with suppliers to compile quotations to achieve the best cost prices available.
6. Collaborate with clients and suppliers to create and deliver venue-branded products.
7. Assist with daily reporting, including daily takings, yearly comparisons, and sell-through.
8. Work with the Merchandise teams to ensure all expenses are tracked and reported for the correct events.
9. Support the Commercial Director and Commercial Manager with forecasting for new events and contract opportunities.
10. Collaborate with the Merchandise teams on uniform and equipment orders and stand designs, ensuring all costs align with budgets.
The Commercial Assistant will be a key point of contact, requiring travel to various sites across the UK, Ireland, and Sweden.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with suppliers and clients to deliver product ranges and meet contract requirements, including creating forecasts, purchasing plans, and sales presentations.
Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills are essential, along with the ability to create and maintain budgets and experience using stock systems and e-commerce “back offices.”
Strong verbal and written communication skills, great time management, and the ability to meet deadlines are crucial.
A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
Due to the responsibilities of this role, the successful applicant must have the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, often exceeding their contracted hours.
