Description
By capacity, Hope Works is the largest Cement Works in the UK, and the role of a Stores Operative is key for collaborating with Maintenance, Reliability & Operational teams. The key function of the Stores team is to support master planning reliability so that we meet or beat our plant reliability target of 96.5% year on year.
The Stores team collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure that parts & materials are available to support weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance activities.
As a Stores Operative, you will report to the Stores & Materials Controller and be responsible for carrying out all Stores activities to ensure operational standards are met, as well as supporting colleagues in all aspects of plant operation
Key Responsibilities
* Receiving and goods-receipting deliveries
* Ensure adequate supplies of fuels and gases via weekly physical checks
* Ammonia deliveries: liaise with the Control Room, and follow safe controls as per SOPs
* Maintain good levels of housekeeping on a daily basis
* Managing stock in Stores, with a sharp eye for detail
* Promptly ‘goods issue’ stores materials to ensure timely replenishment
* Completing weekly stock takes to assist towards End of Year Audit
* Removing spares and cleaning storage shelves, checking spares and shelf labels, re-labelling where appropriate and returning spares to correct shelf layout
* Good working relationships with the Stores team, internal departments, engineers, finance, delivery companies and external suppliers
* Communicate with engineers/fitters regarding stock queries and ‘shutdown’ requirements
* Liaise with suppliers on consignment stock requirements
* Ensure stores materials are kept in adequate storage conditions
* Non-stock goods: receipt where possible and notify the order originator of arrival
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* Educated to GCSE or A-Level Standard
* Preferably previous production / manufacturing or warehouse experience
* Familiarity with Maintenance Management systems such as SAP, Maximo etc.
* Good knowledge of core IT systems including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
* Forklift licence would prove highly beneficial, although training will be provided
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Compliance with Health & Safety and procurement procedures
