Title: Occupational Safety Specialist
Location: Hybrid - 2 /3 days per week in West Midlands office

Forsyth Barnes are partnering with a leading utilities company to recruit an experienced Occupational Safety Specialist. This is a unique opportunity to influence and enhance safety strategy across the business, ensuring legislative compliance and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Safety Strategy Development: Provide expert advice on safety strategy to non-operational areas, ensuring legislative compliance and continuous improvement.
* Project Leadership: Lead SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) projects aimed at driving continuous improvement across the business.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with non-operational areas of the business to help them manage their daily SHE responsibilities effectively.
* Procedure Development: Lead or support the development and review of SHE procedures and standards, including associated training and assessment packages.
* Risk Management: Manage business systems such as DSE (Display Screen Equipment), Safe Driving, and other identified risk areas affecting the business.
* Incident Investigation: Provide expert support in incident investigations to establish root causes and offer guidance to the investigation team, including advanced level advice where necessary.
* Process Improvement: Work with the business to ensure that lessons from safety-related incidents are learned and embedded into processes.
* Safety Culture Promotion: Support the promotion of a mature safety culture, including conducting safety surveys.
* Innovation and Best Practices: Lead the implementation of innovative safety practices and seek opportunities for a consistent approach to safety responsibility and accountability across the organization.
* Engagement and Influence: Actively engage and positively influence staff, managers, contractors, and union representatives on SHE performance and risk management, highlighting the direct impact of behavior on safety outcomes.
* Reporting and Analysis: Produce detailed reports and briefing notes on specific SHE topics and develop H&S measures of success that drive continuous improvement.
* Performance Monitoring: Provide UK & company SHE non-site Safety Performance MI and facilitate SHE leadership visits and feedback.
Key Requirements:
* NEBOSH Certification:
* FTSE100 Background: Preferred experience within a FTSE100 company, bringing high standards of safety management and compliance.
* Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, from staff to senior management.
