Could you work as a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist within our exciting new service development providing a 10-bed regional inpatient unit for people with a learning disability and/or autistic people with treatable mental health needs? Do you want to work in an organisation which is genuinely committed to meeting your individual needs as well as the needs of patients?
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our team. You will work alongside a Professional Lead for Speech & Language Therapy, an Advanced Speech & Language Therapist, and a Speech & Language Therapist Assistant Practitioner, as well as holding close links with community learning disability and neurodiversity team colleagues.
You will be a key member of a large multi-disciplinary team, with the opportunity to help shape and develop the Speech & Language Therapy team to deliver consistently high quality care and treatment. You will also support the transition from our existing service to the new development. The new unit will be state of the art and has been carefully designed and developed with clinicians and people with lived experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for helping the Speech & Language Therapy service within the specialist in-patient unit. You will be responsible for undertaking speech, language & communication assessments, as well as eating, drinking and swallowing assessments as required. You will work collaboratively with individuals to implement evidence-based interventions.
Job responsibilities
* The principal purpose of this job is to improve clinical outcomes for adults with a Learning Disability and Autistic adults through provision of Speech & Language assessments, and evidenced-based interventions.
* The post holder will receive professional and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy and Professional Practice Guidelines set out by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Qualifications
Essential
* Recognized Speech and Language Therapy qualification (including completion of RCSLT NQP Competency Framework)
* HCPC Registration and License to Practice
* Registered Practicing Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
* Evidence of CPD in clinical area
Desirable
* Post Graduate Dysphagia Training
Experience
Essential
* Post-registration developing experience in working with people with a Learning Disability and/or with Autistic people
* Experience of working in a MDT
Desirable
* Experience in supervising developing and student SLTs
