GMP Recruitment is excited to be working with a cutting-edge automation and engineering company, renowned for its innovative solutions in complex automation, mechatronic, and data acquisition systems. We are currently recruiting for an Applications Engineer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis at their state-of-the-art facility in Worcester.
This position operates on a standard weekly shift pattern with flexible working hours: Monday - Thursday, 10:00am - 4:00pm and Friday, 10:00am - 12:00pm. Up to GBP55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Our client is a leading player in automation and control systems, working with industries such as automotive, industrial, and associated sectors. They are looking for an experienced engineer with a background in electrical/control systems and Windows-based coding to join their team, working on bespoke customer applications and core products.
Applications Engineer main duties:
* Develop and modify C# control software using Visual Studio and our clients CADET API.
* Support legacy systems written in VB6.
* Provide remote support to worldwide customers and our clients engineers, diagnosing and resolving issues with both new and existing systems.
* Occasional on-site work may be required.
* Work alongside design engineers to advise on requirements for new systems.
* Interface with third-party equipment for integration within the CADET environment using C#.
* Develop automation sequences and tests using standard CADET editor tools.
* Analyse engineering systems to advise on the best automation methods.
* Work closely with commissioning engineers and project managers to ensure successful project sign-off.
* Utilise source code management tools such as SourceTree, BitBucket, and Jira.
* Document solutions and produce software manuals.
Applications Engineer required skills and experience:
* Previous practical experience developing software within Windows in C# and VB6 essential.
* Solid understanding of C# and Visual Studio.
* Engineering background with knowledge of control and automation systems (sensors, actuators, inverters, etc.).
* Ideally, an engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, robotic, mechatronics, or automation systems with at least 3 years of experience in an automation role.
* Comfortable with occasional customer site work as needed.
* Full UK driving license and indefinite right to work in the UK.
* Career progression into senior commissioning or automation roles.
* Overtime payments and expenses for occasional site work in line with company policy.
