As a Hospital Out of Hours Practitioner, you will play a vital role in ensuring effective safe clinical care is delivered outside of normal working hours within Kings Mill Hospital.
Your Responsibilities Include:
1. Providing strong clinical leadership within a multi-professional team.
2. Offering advice, support, guidance, and education to nursing and Junior medical staff.
3. Being a role model and expert practitioner.
4. Responding to critical issues, Acute response and Cardiac Arrest calls as part of the Hospital Out of Hours team.
5. Ensuring prompt support and effective clinical assessment/treatment.
6. Developing advanced assessment skills and knowledge.
7. Expanding professional practice in line with nursing professional codes.
8. Undertaking procedures like cannulations, venepuncture, catheterisation, and 12 lead ECG recordings.
9. Collaborating closely with the Duty Nurse Manager.
10. Prioritising workloads with the aid of Nerve Centre.
11. Undertaking audits, and supporting improvement projects.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Good communication skills with clear written and oral skills.
Qualifications
* 1st Level Registered Nurse
* Degree in Nursing or equivalent clinical professional qualification
* Registered clinical professional
* Qualification in teaching and assessing or equivalent.
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Working towards Masters qualification or equivalent
* APACs or equivalent consultation and assessment course or working towards it
* Non-medical prescribing course, or working towards it
Further Training
* Evidence of personal and professional development in clinical practice/management
* Advanced Life Support
* Relevant teaching and assessing qualification
* Experience of working towards Care Quality Commission and NHS Resolution standards
* Coronary Care Course
Experience
* Significant post-registration experience, with experience in a senior position within the specialty
* Experience of operating and communicating effectively with clinicians and Multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience of initiating, conducting and evaluating risk assessments and investigations
* Experience of leading and managing staff
Contractual Requirements
* Ability to work flexibly
* Professional Registration (e.g. NMC, HCPC)
* Work flexibly to meet the demands of the service
