As a registered practitioner, the post holder is personally accountable for their practice and must adhere to the NMC/HCPC standards expected of them. Delegate duties appropriately, teaching and coordinating other members of the healthcare team. In the absence of the Theatre manager, carry continuing responsibility for the effective management of the department throughout the 24-hour period, maintaining control over delegated duties.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of General Surgery lists. This includes planning and ordering for future lists, management and development of staff, and working with members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a timely, high standard of care to patients. You will also be assisting the Theatre Manager in the continuing responsibility for the management of the Department. This includes the deployment of staff, equipment, supplies, and other resources.

Person Specification
Education
* Possession of Diploma/Degree in Operating Department Practice or qualifies RGN.
* Mentorship qualification or working towards.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
Knowledge and skills
* Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
* Post registration experience in a Theatre or surgical environment.
* Knowledge of patient administration IT systems.
