Job Title : General Cover Teacher (Ad-hoc) Location : Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK Job Type : Ad-hoc, Temporary Start Date : Immediate Job Description: We are looking for an adaptable, motivated, and reliable General Cover Teacher to join a secondary school in Hinckley on an ad-hoc basis. In this role, you will be covering lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, ensuring that students remain engaged and continue their studies as planned. Key Responsibilities: Deliver Pre-Planned Lessons : Deliver lessons from a variety of subjects (such as English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and more) following the lesson plans set by the absent teacher. Classroom Management : Maintain a positive and productive learning environment by managing student behavior effectively and ensuring that students are on task and engaged. Student Support : Provide additional support to students where needed, offering help with tasks, answering questions, and assisting students with special educational needs. Supervision : Oversee students during classwork, group activities, and exams, ensuring that they follow instructions and complete tasks on time. Communication : Report any issues, concerns, or feedback about students' progress or behavior to the appropriate staff or leadership team. Flexible Availability : Be available on short notice to cover lessons across different subjects and year groups, with shifts often offered based on school requirements. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (preferred but not essential). Experience in teaching or supporting secondary school students, ideally aged 11-16. Ability to teach across a wide range of subjects (experience in specific subjects like English, Maths, or Science is a bonus). Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a disciplined and positive environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly to new classrooms and situations. Flexibility and a proactive attitude towards new challenges. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one). Desirable Skills: Specialism in one or more subjects is desirable.
