Are you a dynamic individual who is looking to progress in a PMO career? An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic Deputy Head of PMO to join our team who are currently working in a hybrid manner.
The PMO has an extensive agenda supporting the Strategic Programme of work and associated Trust Objectives, Efficiency and Productivity Programme, Service Improvement, Business Planning and Investment Portfolio. This post will provide day to day line management of the Portfolio Management Office team and Deputy to the Associate Director of Strategy and Planning. This role will drive forward the development of our core PMO priorities along with providing direction and support to the team to deliver the programmes and projects in line with the Trust strategic direction.
The PMO team work closely with our Clinical Business Unit and Corporate Teams to support delivery of the Trust Strategy and associated change programmes to deliver our mission to provide the best possible care for the people of Barnsley and beyond at all stages of their life. The role is extremely diverse and offers the right candidate the opportunity to be involved in shaping the Hospitals long-term future.
Main Duties of the Job
This is a key role within the Portfolio Management Office, providing day to day line management, leadership and support to the project managers and project support office team. This role will ensure the delivery of programmes outlined within the PMO portfolio. Key responsibilities include:
1. Day to day line management of the PMO team
2. Oversight and delivery of the PMO portfolio including Efficiency and Productivity Programme, Investment Portfolio Programme, Strategy and Trust Objectives, GIRFT programme, Business Planning.
3. Oversight of Strategic Change projects delivered by the PMO team ensuring appropriate resource allocation.
4. Oversight of governance and project documentation completion, providing a Project Assurance role to project managers.
5. Ensure key escalation processes are in place for challenges with the delivery of projects/programmes.
6. Be the key point of contact for change requests and investment case requests.
7. Leading on the delivery of major transformational change programmes, collaboratively working with a range of clinical and admin stakeholders.
8. Staff development and departmental development.
9. Direct any allocated staff, ensuring they are clear about what is required of them and supervising their work so that they are effective.
10. Undertake appraisal and team development in addition to progressing any disciplinary or capability issues.

Experience Essential
* Extensive experience of planning and managing major projects in a senior project management or programme position
* Experience of managing major change and shaping future vision
* Experience of service development
* Experience of effective partnership working with other organisations at a senior level
* Experience of managing multiple parties including third party suppliers
* Experience of managing dependencies and interfaces between projects
* Experience of achieving ambitious targets and of implementing innovative solutions designed to improve services within financial constraints
* Experience of planning and managing budgets and resource allocation
* Experience of risk management
* Experience of MS Project
Qualifications Essential
* Educated to Masters Degree level
* Postgraduate diploma or equivalent management qualification
* MSP Practitioner or equivalent professional programme management qualification
* PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent professional project management qualification
