Job Description
What will you be doing?
We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer to be part of our Liverpool based team who support project deliverables and manage our hybrid server estate, ensuring high availability, integration and operation of our on-premises and Azure environments, utilizing Meraki networking infrastructure and implementing zero trust security principles.
As Infrastructure Engineer, your responsibilities will include among others:
1. Hybrid Infrastructure Management: Oversee the administration, maintenance, and optimization of a hybrid server environment, including both on-premises and Azure-based systems.
2. Network Management: Manage and configure Meraki networking infrastructure to ensure robust, secure, and efficient network operations.
3. System Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance to ensure high availability and reliability.
4. Automation and Scripting: Utilize automation tools and scripting to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
5. Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, such as InfoSec and both internal and external stakeholders, and vendors to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems.
7. Provide out of hours support to project/operational changes where required.
8. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should:
1. Experience of supporting 3rd line infrastructure services, with a strong understanding of both on premise and Azure environments and the ability to analyse and solve complex problems.
2. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
3. Generalist/Broad experience in the following technologies/solutions: Microsoft/Windows stack, AD/DNS, VMware, Storage solutions, Networking/Firewalls, SSO, SSL/Cert management.
4. Solid understanding of zero trust security principles and implementation.
5. Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Azure Cloud Shell).
6. Experience working to project deadlines, taking ownership of outcomes by working as part of a project team to support completion of infrastructure tasks.
7. Raising, impact assessing and representing changes at CAB. Completing changes out of hours when needed.
8. Security vulnerability identification & remediation.
9. Experience of working with internal & external auditors and providing policy compliance evidence would be beneficial.
10. Experience of platforms/portals such as SolarWinds, Meraki and Zscaler would be beneficial.
Professional Qualifications and Education - Advantageous but not essential:
1. Microsoft - MCSA, MCSE or role-based equivalents.
2. AZ-800 Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure.
3. AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals.
4. AZ-104 Azure Administrator.
5. AZ-305 Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions.
6. Cisco - CCNA, CCNP or equivalent.
