Job Description
Senior Practitioner – Residential Childcare
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Practitioner to support and lead in our residential childcare services. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and guidance for children and young people, many of whom have experienced trauma.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide compassionate, trauma-informed care, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
2. Support the implementation of The Promise Scotland, embedding child-centred and rights-based practices.
3. Lead, mentor, and support staff in delivering best practices in residential childcare.
4. Work collaboratively with children, families, and professionals to promote positive outcomes.
5. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safeguarding standards.
Requirements:
1. SVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) and a relevant leadership qualification or willingness to obtain.
2. Experience in residential childcare with a strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
3. Commitment to The Promise Scotland and improving the lives of care-experienced children and young people.
4. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
