We are currently seeking an Outreach Tutor for the Sussex area.
Role:
- This role involves providing support to students who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream schools and are awaiting placement in a new school or specialist provision.
- As an Inclusion Tutor, a strong understanding of the UK Curriculum, particularly in Maths and English for Key Stage 3 and 4, is essential.
- The role also includes supporting students with confidence building, communication development, and emotional support.
- The position is based outside of the classroom, working in libraries and hubs, providing a flexible and supportive environment for students.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions to students requiring academic support.
- Develop tailored lesson plans and instructional materials that cater to the individual needs and learning styles of students.
- Assist students with homework, test preparation, and developing study skills.
- Track student progress and provide regular feedback to parents or guardians.
- Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to ensure student success.
- Employ a variety of teaching strategies to engage and motivate students.
- Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Specialisation in Maths and English with previous tutoring experience.
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices is beneficial.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet individual student needs.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple students and assignments.
- Reliable transportation to tutoring sessions (if required).
- A clear understanding of the UK Curriculum and lesson planning.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a consistent approach.
