Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Location: Redditch Pay: Up to £17 per hour (depending on experience) Hours: Monday to Friday (Days) Required Weekend Overtime An established and quality-accredited metal finishing company is seeking a Plant & Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of the maintenance function on-site. This hands-on role is ideal for an individual looking to make a real impact within a supportive and team-focused environment, working closely with the Factory Manager and Plant Director. Role Overview: Take full responsibility for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime and ensure efficient operation of all plant and equipment. Respond swiftly and proactively to breakdowns, including out-of-hours call-outs when required (premium rate applies). Conduct testing, cleaning, and replenishing of processing tanks, along with salt spray testing and paint thickness checks. Carry out general site maintenance, ensuring upkeep of factory buildings. Coordinate and supervise external contractors during on-site visits. Manage stock checks and the reordering of consumables, including occasional collections. Work weekends on a rota basis (typically 4 hours per week or bi-weekly, paid at a premium rate). Candidate Requirements: Proven experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment with strong fault-finding skills and a mechanical bias. Background in PPM and reactive maintenance. Hands-on experience with sensors, motors, pumps, inverters, gearboxes, drives, and bearings. General site maintenance skills, including basic plumbing, painting, and general repairs. Willingness to work weekends (Saturday mornings) and additional overtime when required. Ability to respond quickly to out-of-hours breakdowns. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Counterbalance FLT licence (desirable but not essential).
