Assistant Management Accountant

Strive Supply chain are working with an international supplier of non-food FMCG items to the retail sector.
The Assistant Management Accountant will join the Finance Team based with the opportunity for development into a Management Accountant role whilst gaining appropriate experience and full Accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
This is a varied accounting role, supporting the Head of Accounting and Management Accountants with the monthly reporting process for several varied business units. This is a hands-on role, enabling the jobholder to get involved with many aspects of accounting and forecasting.
Responsibilities:
1. Supporting the Head of Accounting and Management Accountants with the monthly reporting process for various business units.
2. Ensuring all reporting is of a high quality, accurate, and produced to agreed timescales.
3. General ledger postings to SAP ensuring allocation to correct GL codes, cost centres and projects.
4. Ensuring income and costs are accounted for in the correct accounting period, including identifying prepayments and accruals.
5. Preparing reconciliations of general ledger and intercompany accounts, proactively identifying and resolving accounting issues, following up exceptions and ensuring accurate and up to date SAP ledgers.
6. Conducting expenditure analysis and control, including supporting Management Accountants with feedback to cost centre managers, as required.
7. Supporting cash and treasury reporting to Group.
8. Assisting with and developing improvements to process efficiency, proactively automating activities.
9. Gaining an understanding of main profit drivers in each business.
10. Preparing VAT returns.
11. Preparing corporation tax analysis for external advisors.
12. Supporting external and internal audit processes.
13. Ad hoc other projects as required.
Experience required:
1. Part Qualified Accountant.
2. Positive “can do” attitude and hunger for knowledge/experience.
3. Ability to work through new accounting scenarios referring back to first principles of double entry.
4. Strong reconciliation skills.
5. Strong excel, data manipulation and reporting skills.
6. Good communication.
7. Able to juggle tasks and priorities within a fast-paced environment.
8. Ability to be proactive and use initiative.
9. Good time management and organisational skills.
10. Applies an analytical approach to problem solving.
