Finance Assistant Job summary/PurposeThe Finance Assistant is responsible for supporting the input of financial transactions into the financial systems, maintaining accurate accounting records, and performing necessary controls and reconciliations. This role also involves assisting in the preparation of monthly reports for both internal and external stakeholders, executing periodic accounting processes, and providing support during year-end audits and related administrative functions.Primary ResponsibilitiesAccounting Records Ensuring accurate and timely customer invoicing, processing of journals, and processing supplier invoicesEntering Customer receipts (BU’s), Supplier payments and other bank transactions and performing bank reconciliations for review monthlyEnsuring that VAT codes are correctly inputReviewing and reconciling Debtor and Creditor Accounts (including prepayments and accruals) Performing a variety of accounting reconciliations including group intercompany accounts Performing Credit control activities Reporting Supporting the production of the monthly Costs Report for review, monthly profit Forecasting Report, and monthly cashflow Reports Performing an initial review to identify and escalate reporting discrepancies or control issues Completing monthly tasks checklists, particularly to ensure that processing and reconciliations and controls are completeFurther duties and responsibilities include:Assisting with preparing Year-end audit files, ensuring all information and supportingdocuments are electronically available, in accordance with the agreed timeframeCollating and referencing supporting documentation for reviews and audits Assisting others in the Finance Team with any other duties as required, including the upkeep of electronic filing.Support the receptionist with facility queries and cover for holidays in other finance roles and any other administrative and support duties as directed by the Finance ManagerExperience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements1-2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.Basic understanding of financial principles and practices.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel,Outlook and Word.Good planning and organizational skillsAble to demonstrate initiative and flexibilityFamiliarity with Sage X3 or similar accountancy system Inclusivity StatementAs a proud Disability Confident Employer, Taylor Wimpey is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
