Agilent Technologies are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to join the Workplace Services team and lead EHS management of site and field operations in the UK & Ireland.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with national Environmental, Health and Safety regulations including DSEAR and Environmental Permitting Regulations as well as implementing effective safety programs and practices. They will report directly to the Regional Workplace Services Director.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leadership of a team of EHS professionals to ensure compliance with HSE regulations and Environmental Permitting requirements, with particular emphasis on DSEAR and Management regulations.
2. Provide leadership and guidance to site personnel on EHS matters, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
3. Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures in line with Agilent’s EHS Management System, applicable regulations and industry best practices.
4. Support managers in completion of risk assessments, managing hazardous substances and implementing appropriate control measures.
5. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement corrective actions as necessary.
This position is based in Shropshire to support Agilent’s primary Manufacturing sites.
Qualifications
We are seeking a self-motivated individual who is passionate about improving safety standards and safety culture, with the ability to engage, motivate and influence across all levels of the Agilent UK organisation.
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a physical science or engineering degree together with a relevant professional occupational safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma or GradIOSH/CMIOSH) are essential.
2. Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a chemical production or ATEX process environment.
3. In-depth knowledge of DSEAR, COSHH, Environmental Permitting Regulations, and other relevant environmental, health and safety legislation.
4. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Excellent English verbal & written communication skills.
