The Role
This role will be for MH ANP staff. The post holder will hold both clinical and defined operational responsibility for the management and leadership of the mental health ANP team.
STRUCTURE
In addition to the job description, the post holder will align directly to the Service Manager for MH&LD Services. The service manager will directly line manage the post holder with professional support and input from the Deputy Associate Nurse Director/Nurse Director for mental health, learning disabilities and addiction services.
LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT DUTIES
In addition to the job description, the post holder’s responsibilities will include:
* Supervise, deploy and develop all staff to ensure efficient management and development of the ANP initiative.
* Establish and implement systems to co-ordinate, monitor, assess and prioritise workload supporting effective contingency planning ensuring that the interests of patients are met.
* Be responsible for the effective use of physical, human and financial resources for service provided, including the development of duty rotas, annual leave allocation, monitoring and reviewing sickness / absence, grievance / disciplinary matters, nurse bank and the recruitment and retention of staff.
* Ensure ANPs within the team are provided with regular one to one appraisal meetings to monitor and review their individual performance, and develop individual Personal Development Plans.
* Liaise with members of the multi – professional team to facilitate good communication, to provide a patient focused service, to implement staff development and promote ANP role
* Lead effective multidisciplinary teamwork and foster healthy working relationships through consistent and visible support.
* Ensure that complaints are investigated timeously and subsequent action plans developed and implemented, making staff aware of patients concerns and / or identified trends.
* Implement redesign initiatives and lead and drive service development and the ANP model of care
* Support, coach and develop new multidisciplinary team members to ensure the provision of safe and effective healthcare within the service
* Undertake health and safety responsibilities identified within the Safety, Health and Environment manual, assisting with implementing policy and monitoring compliance;
* Lead and participation at team/departmental meetings.
* Participate in on call rotas where required.

What we'll need you to bring
Registered Nurse /AHP or Pharmacist with a valid NMC/ HCPC / GPhC registration.
Completion of Post Graduate Diploma (Masters) in Advanced Practice with evidence of finalising Masters Degree i.e post holder is undertaking the last module of a Masters Degree which is the research dissertation.
Independent prescriber.
Be able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotland leadership qualities framework or equivalent framework
Management knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development
Evidence of facilitating learning and teaching
Professional, leadership and managerial experience within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within areas of expertise.
Experience of assessing training needs.
Experience of resource management (Financial, Human and Capital)
Knowledge and experience of needs assessment and analysis/interpretation of related data.
Evidence of sound and effective leadership. Ability to think strategically, and lead a team.
Evidence of developing innovative solutions in meeting organisational requirements and motivating staff to affect change.
Evidence of developing teams/services and integrated solutions to complex and challenging problems.
Experience of appropriate advanced practitioner programme and evidence of completion of advanced practice competency.
Knowledge and experience of information technology.

Completion of management and or leadership training
Wide overview of mental health, LD and addiction experience
Relevant Post registration experience
Expert practice in speciality
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality
Advanced speciality knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within the speciality
Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills
Effective time management skills

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
