An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Haematologist with an interest in Lymphoma and General Haematology to join the team at Withybush General Hospital. With a newly developed job plan for this position, offering a dynamic and rewarding role, we welcome all applicants to apply. We are looking for a highly committed and motivated individual to join our Haematology team as we start to introduce subspecialisation into the health board. Our dedicated and forward-looking team of 7 consultants provides a comprehensive haematology service in the four hospitals in an area of outstanding beauty. This post will introduce a Lymphoma subspecialty to our team as part of a redesign of haematology services across the Health Board and will continue to develop as part of the wider transformation process. Support for the post includes Associate Specialists, specialty doctors, clinical fellows as well as foundation trainees. The team also includes haematology CNS team and Specialist pharmacists.
Our vision is to provide a future-proof service for our patients to ensure they can be cared for as close to their home as possible.
Main duties of the job
* The appointee should be able to demonstrate experience in the management of Lymphoma and General Haematology. The successful candidate will develop this subspecialty across the health board and work alongside the generalist consultants.
* The appointee will participate in an attending and on-call rota for the Carmarthen site. At the three peripheral sites, the contribution is consultative to the local medical team.
* The appointee will be expected to participate in 3-4 clinics per week, within Lymphoma and General Haematology. Consideration for other subspecialist workload could be considered, depending on the applicant's experience to date.
* There is a weekly health board-wide MDT and opportunities to join other MDTs from all Wales MDTs.
