Job Title: Technician
Location: Perivale, London (On-Site)
Salary Range: £30,000-£32,000
Role Description:
This is a full-time role for a Technician at a workshop based in Perivale, London. The Technician will assist senior technicians and supervisors in the preparation, construction, and execution of models and effects, adhering to provided technical specifications. The role involves building animatronics, mechanical rigs, models, miniatures, and props.
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Expertise in model making.
2. Working knowledge of workshop processes, including machining, welding, moulding, and vacuum forming.
3. Familiarity with commonly used materials such as plastics, metals, timber, and 3D printed materials.
4. Ability to interpret and work to technical drawings, sketches, and specifications.
5. Basic understanding of electro-mechanical equipment, wiring circuits, hydraulic principles, pneumatics, water systems, wire and pulley systems, gas and flame equipment, etc.
6. Knowledge of safety legislation relevant to mechanical, electrical, and other projects.
7. Calm under pressure, flexible, and a strong team player.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
1. Experience in the film, television, or live events industry.
2. Degree or certification in Special Effects, Engineering, or Design.
3. Familiarity with lighting and camera equipment.
4. Experience using SFX equipment, including smoke machines, steam generators, water FX, gas and flame equipment, air mortars, and motorised equipment.
5. Working knowledge of physical special effects and model-making techniques such as mechanics, miniatures, and animatronics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation, construction, and execution of technical models and effects.
2. Build and assemble animatronics, mechanical rigs, and props.
3. Adhere to project specifications and safety regulations.
4. Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality results.
