Full job description
General responsibilities:
1. Act as Key Person for named children carrying out observations and developmental reports for each child, meeting with parents as appropriate.
2. To undertake and lead on additional responsibilities such as SENCO, training co-ordinator, safeguarding Officer etc.
3. To be aware of the importance of each child's individual background and varied cultural needs ensuring the service provided is done so in a non-discriminatory manner and promotes positive images for all groups within society.
4. Actively promote and support safeguarding of children in the nursery ensuring that all staff observe the nursery policy and procedures, to undertake the borough training for designated safeguarding lead working alongside the manager.
5. Knowledge of EYFS and OFSTED regulations and a good understanding of childcare issues and child development.
6. To undertake shared responsibility for ensuring the nursery is a safe environment for staff and children by carrying out daily risk assessments and reporting any issues to the nursery manager.
7. Supervise and support Nursery Practitioners, students and volunteers.
8. Assist the nursery manager in managing the nursery on a day-to-day basis, covering the manager's responsibilities and deputising when they are off site.
9. Engage with nursery practitioners providing support and guidance to enable them to contribute to planning activities and report writing.
10. To work with the nursery manager in developing and implementing nursery policies and procedures.
11. Assist the nursery manager in planning staff training ensuring the team are up to date with Trust core skills and any other regulatory training required.
12. To establish positive relationships with parents/carers, children and staff.
