We are looking for an experienced Assistant Producer to join our Sport department in Cardiff to work across our Formula One programming on Channel 4. The role requires a broad skill-set across directing shoots, working with craft editors to produce first class VTs, and being a core team member of a busy programme-making department. We are looking for someone who appreciates a wide range of sports TV coverage and has a passion for Motorsport, with first class research, technical and editorial skills, including script writing. The role is based in Cardiff and will involve travel within the UK to location shoots from time to time but predominantly the role is based in Cardiff. Key Responsibilities: Working as part of the production team across our Motorsport portfolio, keeping up to date with developments within the sport and sharing knowledge and creative ideas with the wider team. Take responsibility for organising and planning season-long creative content production Work with craft editors to produce creative content from openers & closers, to driver features, and highlights packages for a variety of platforms. Organise and produce single-camera shoots, with talent. Ensure all content is of a first-class standard, thoroughly researched and factually correct, exceeding the needs and expectations of viewers. Working in a gallery with EVS operators. Sourcing archive and experience of clearing material. Working effectively with other departments, clients and broadcasters (both internal and external), maintaining Whisper’s excellent relationships and communication Ensuring that output complies with Whisper’s editorial, technical, design and accessibility standards, whilst always working to the company’s Health and Safety policy Enhancing and pushing forward the editorial and creative vision of the company Upholding the reputation of the company by embodying the ethos of Whisper Please note that responsibilities may be amended, added to, or removed to reflect the changing needs of the production or organisation. Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Passion for, and knowledge of, a wide range of sports including Motorsport is desirable Demonstrated ability and experience of producing engaging, entertaining, and creative content for both linear and Digital platforms. Experience of working on live & outside broadcast sport production Experience with complex workloads, consistently prioritising and delivering to deadlines, reacting positively to changes and conflicts Ability to spot a good story, devise and develop strong creative ideas Ability to write clear and concise material for briefs, scripts and digital platforms Strong research techniques and the ability to verify the accuracy of material Understanding of the budgeting and resources required to deliver varied projects Experience maintaining multiple production projects in both an organisational and editorial sense A demonstrable level of creativity with the ability to bring a fresh new approach to creating engaging and evolving output Understanding of the importance of a multi-platform workflow and delivering to digital audiences Strong communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills Strong knowledge of Whisper’s editorial guidelines and broadcaster compliance policies, or a willingness to establish this quickly Ability to work collaboratively and clearly with the wider production and senior management teams Basic camera operating and editing skills are a bonus but not essential Location: The position is based at our Cardiff, Wales. Working Days: In non live weeks - 5 day week, x4 days in office and x1 day WFH. With 24 race weekends across the season, this role will require flexibility, weekend working, and occasionally unsociable hours. You will be expected to work with the team to plan your work schedule based on production requirement. There could be foreign travel from time to time. Lieu days will be given for any days worked over a five-day week. Whisper offer the option of flexitime hours subject to production requirements.
