The Role
:
As an Ecological Consultant, you will provide technical leadership and professional guidance to the ecology team.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage projects, including delegating tasks, supervising, and mentoring team members.
2. Prepare reports, including technical aspects of planning work such as Ecological Impact Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments, and protected species licensing.
3. Generate sales and expand the customer base.
4. Prepare and contribute to fee proposals, including complex scopes of work for larger, multidisciplinary projects.
5. Provide technical expertise and assistance on complex projects to support the ecology team.
6. Engage with stakeholders and attend meetings as part of project liaison.
7. Offer sound technical advice to clients, particularly for complex projects
8. Develop and deliver training for the team and CPD for industry professionals.
Requirements:
9. Previously worked as an Ecological Consultant or in a similar role.
10. Have experience as a named ecologist or accredited agent within a species mitigation licence.
11. Experience in site appraisal with demonstrable botanical ID skills (FISC Level 3 or above).
12. Background working with the DEFRA Biodiversity Metric.
13. Hold a degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field.
14. Hold a CIEEM membership or working towards it.
15. Skilled in managing survey teams and / or subcontractors and the use of technical survey equipment.
16. Possess at least one protected species licence, ideally bats or dormice.
17. Full UK driving licence.
