The Opportunity We are seeking an Indirect Tax Technology Manager to join our established Global Indirect Tax team. This exciting role will provide support on the implementation global e-invoicing projects in conjunction with various business partners, and the deployment of our VAT compliance reporting tool including transition of previously deployed entities to a cloud-based offering. This opportunity would allow the successful candidate to be part of our indirect tax technology journey focused on meeting tax authority mandates, as well as being part of our indirect tax reporting improvement program. The position will be part of a 27 strong Global Indirect Tax Team providing compliance and advisory support via its regional teams and support through the Indirect Tax Technology Team. What You Will Do: The Senior Indirect Tax Technology Analyst will be responsible for: Digitalisation: - Work with the ITX Senior Manager, IT teams, Global Indirect Tax Team, and Caterpillar businesses to ensure compliance with Digitalisation developments (this includes E-invoicing, E-reporting and Real time reporting projects) - Monitor, track and evaluate Digitalisation developments such as the EU's ViDA programme and individual country developments and assess their impact in conjunction with the VAT/GST Advisory Team. - Manage the preparation, completion, and maintenance of required project process documentation and activities including country fact sheets, business gap analysis and project planning. - Assist with the successful delivery of Caterpillar's Global Solution to countries impacted by Digitalisation developments including participation in project teams, liaison with Caterpillar's Global Solution Provider, testing and validation Global VAT Reporting Tool ('GVRT'): - Support business units and the ITX Senior Manager with the current GVRT On-Premise deployments, including the provision of training, guidance and issue resolution. - Assist with new GVRT SaaS projects and support with the transition of the current On-Premise GVRT offering to the new 'SaaS' cloud-based offering, including the creation and maintenance of GVRT deployment workbooks and process documentation, testing and validation - Collaboration on GVRT issues and projects with business units, the VAT/GST Advisory team and GVRT external advisors - Support other VAT compliance technology as needed Key Relationships The Senior Indirect Tax Technology Analyst will collaborate directly with Caterpillar businesses, Global Business Services (GBS), other members of the Global Indirect Tax Team and with external advisors (as appropriate). What You Will Have: Financial and Accounting Systems: Knowledge of functions, features and capabilities of financial and accounting systems; ability to use financial and accounting applications specific to the organization. Level Working Knowledge: - General understanding of VAT/GST principles, and VAT/GST compliance processes - Good appreciation of the use of technology and tools in VAT compliance processes - General understanding/appreciation of real time reporting and electronic invoicing developments Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Level Working Knowledge: - Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work. - Avoids technical jargon when inappropriate. Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Level Working Knowledge: - Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives. - Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder. - Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information. - Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution. - Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems. What You May Have: - Experience of real time reporting and/or e-invoicing projects - Experience of using VAT compliance reporting tools - General understanding of Caterpillar systems and interactions - Strong analytical and process improvement skills. Additional Information: This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring 3-day weekly office presence onsite at the Solihull office with remote work for the remaining days.
