Upper Gastrointestinal Clinical Nurse Specialist

The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Upper GI Team is to work alongside other Band 7 team members in the assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient care for those who present with UGI cancer investigation and diagnosis and related conditions.
The successful applicant must be willing to be flexible to meet the needs of this team and must demonstrate knowledge, expertise and passion in working within the speciality of Upper GI surgery and or Oncology.
The nurse specialist will work in collaboration with specialist and other professional teams.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current registration with appropriate professional body
* Master's degree or equivalent or willingness to work towards/equivalent experience
* Degree in health/nursing related studies
* Relevant post-registration study relevant to Upper GI pathway / willingness to undertake at degree/masters level
Experience
* Significant post registration experience at band 6 or above, to include caring for Upper GI Surgical/Oncology patients
* Experience in supervision of registered, non-registered staff and students
* Ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, relatives and staff
* Leadership and management experience
* Evidence of teaching and assessment skills
* Presenting at meetings/conferences
* Experience of setting up and developing a new service
Communication
* Excellent oral and written communicator
* Demonstrate evidence of negotiating and influencing skills
* Ability to work within a MDT
* Ability to deliver presentations and chair meetings
