Consultant Anaesthetist with an Interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking substantive Consultant Anaesthetist with a special interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia. The successful candidate will work alongside the existing team to help grow, develop and innovate the service to meet modern standards of care.
The successful candidate will join a team of highly dedicated medical, nursing and other professionals committed to providing a high quality service to our patients with brand new Maternity Theatre facilities.
The Delivery Suite at Tameside Hospital has 2800 deliveries per annum with a C-section rate of 37%. The anaesthetic department provides a 24hr on-demand epidural analgesia service and last year the unit’s epidural rate was approximately 15%. The maternity unit has 5 delivery rooms with a well-equipped and staffed dedicated Obstetric theatre. We are opening a new Maternity Theatre in May 2025. At present 7 consultants provide obstetric anaesthetic cover for ten sessions during the daytime for elective and emergency anaesthesia and weekly pre-assessment clinics. Out-of-hours cover is provided as part of the general anaesthetic consultant on-call rota. The anaesthetic consultants are supported by a Specialty Doctor, Clinical Fellow or Specialist Trainee during daytime and out-of-hours (resident cover)
