About the Role
As our HSE Officer, you will play a key role in embedding a strong safety culture across the site. You’ll work closely with the management team and stakeholders to identify risks, implement control measures, and ensure full compliance with UK health and safety regulations. Your expertise will help us maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
Responsibilities
* Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement control measures to reduce risks
* Ensure compliance with UK H&S regulations (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, RIDDOR)
* Deliver H&S inductions and ongoing training for employees
* Conduct safety inspections, fire drills, and risk assessments
* Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents, identifying root causes and corrective actions
* Manage PPE distribution and ensure equipment is maintained and logged
* Provide regular reports on H&S performance and key KPIs
* Lead H&S Toolbox Talks and training sessions
* Stay up to date with the latest legislation and best practices
Qualifications
IOSH qualification (or working towards)
Microsoft Office
Required Skills
* SME manufacturing experience
* Strong knowledge of UK workplace safety legislation
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
* A proactive, team-oriented approach
Preferred Skills
* Background in FMCG or chemical manufacturing
* Membership of IOSH or IIRM
Pay range and compensation package
Salary: £27,000 - £33,000 per annum Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) Benefits: 33 days annual leave (pro-rata) + Enhanced Contributory pension scheme, Free Parking, Access to 24/7 GP Service, EAP Service
