Scottish Power is a leading energy company, committed to delivering sustainable and innovative energy solutions. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Logistics Manager to join our Transmission Operations team.
As a Logistics Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the Transmission Strategic Stores, ensuring efficient delivery of materials and maintaining high standards of performance and quality. You will lead by example, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Based at Scottish Power's Strategic Transmission Storage Facility, with occasional travel to various sites. The role involves regular contact and negotiations with other parts of the Scottish Power business and external stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
1. Lead the Strategic Stores Team to achieve high performance and quality standards.
2. Manage the Transmission Strategic Stores and material delivery service for Transmission Operations.
3. Maintain an accurate inventory and clear layout of the stores area.
4. Develop and manage assigned trainees, including apprentices and adult craft trainees.
5. Conduct office, site, and operational audits on your team.
6. Ensure compliance with Company Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
7. Address feedback and issues from audits and ensure non-conformances are resolved.
8. Deliver and promote excellent customer service within your team.
9. Manage lifting equipment, vehicles, and special transport arrangements.
10. Collaborate with various teams to maintain optimal stock levels and address shortfalls.
11. Focus on continuous improvement through quality processes.
12. Contribute as an effective member of the Operational Risk Team.
13. Ensure compliance with Transport Legislation through proactive auditing.
What you'll bring
1. Working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures, and practices.
2. Understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation, especially for hazardous equipment storage.
3. Awareness of the criticality of key primary plant items in Transmission Network operations.
4. Developed customer service and inventory management skills.
5. Knowledge of transport legislation for warehouse operations and load movements.
6. Strong negotiation, communication, and people management skills.
7. Ability to solve complex problems and devise effective solutions.
8. At least 3 years of experience in a team management role.
9. Proficiency in IT and computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite.
Minimum Criteria
1. Degree in Management or equivalent discipline.
2. Three years of post-training experience in a Logistics/Management role.
3. IOSH Certification.
4. Experience in Oil Handling, Dangerous and Hazardous goods, ADR requirements.
5. Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Transport Legislation (or working towards it).
