The Role
We are looking to recruit a Supplier Quality Engineer duties will include the review of material certification, assessment of supplier requirements (where required, flow-down of requirements, supplier contract review, in conjunction with the Project Quality Engineer) to ensure purchased products are free from defects and in compliance with engineering and manufacturing specifications and legislative requirements as per the contractual requirement. The Supplier Quality Engineer works to resolve any quality issues and provide guidance on supplier actions and improvements. This role will also include undertaking Supplier Audits where appropriate.
Responsibilities
* Material Certification / Supplier Documentation Review
* Visiting vendor facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess if their procedures and the subsequent output meets the MTS requirements, on occasion performing a release inspection.
* Performing quality audits where required to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with MTS contractual requirements.
* Reviewing supplies and products from vendors monitoring any defects found, mainly be supplier site visits to ensure that items are free to run at MTS on receipt.
* Witnessing tests and inspections on products to where appropriate in accordance with MTS contractual Quality requirements.
* Maintaining detailed reports and analysis on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
* Resolve non-conformance issues with supplied material and perform root cause analysis to resolve problems and follow up with suppliers to ensure the completion of corrective actions, reviewing effectiveness of any subsequent improvements.
* Serving as a liaison between MTS management (and Procurement Department) and the Suppliers.
* Support new MTS product launches and associated materials and processes, ensuring compliance with stated contractual standards and specifications.
* Contribute to MTS continuous improvement activities, (including POAP).
* Write reports and present progress at MTS internal meetings and to Customers when required.
* Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
* Train people within the Quality Department where required.
* Work with the Project Quality Engineers and Quality Coordinators on supplier contract specific Issues, as above.
Requirements
* Quality Assurance experience.
* Working knowledge of quality control standards and compliance.
* Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
* Ability to provide guidance to improve process efficiency.
* Good communication and liaison skills.
* Good knowledge of manufacturing and production process (if possible, in the Defence industry).
