Senior Electronics Design Engineer Paignton, Devon Up to £80k share options benefits This is an exciting and new opportunity for an experienced electronics design engineer to join a start-up involved with the research, development and design of optics / photonic technologies. Their technologies radically improve network speed and energy efficiency. This electronics design engineer role involves designing and developing high-speed digital and mixed-signal hardware for cutting-edge communication systems. Success in this position means delivering robust, high-performance hardware designs that meet stringent signal integrity and power efficiency requirements Areas of interest include: Experience with the design of high-speed digital and mixed-signal systems, including interfaces (e.g. 56GBd PAM4 transceivers), also signal integrity management, and power supply integration would be excellent. Design of memory interfaces and clocking architectures. Experience of developing DAC/ADC peripherals utilising QSPI, DSPI, and SPI interfaces would be great. Experience with the design of FPGA hardware (using VHDL / RTL) – preference for experience with Intel (Altera) Cyclone V, Agilex 7 platforms or comparable Xilinx devices. Experience of using tools such as Quartus and QuestaSim for FPGA design Excellent communication, organisation and motivational skills The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving, start-up organisation Knowledge of highspeed network interface and optical transceiver systems would be preferable You will need a strong electronics product development background and experience with highspeed network interface or optical transceiver products would be excellent. Electronics design engineer candidates may have worked in other arenas involving highspeed network technologies (e.g. network, and data centre hardware, telecoms systems, storage / servers / HPC, consumer electronics or specialist test and measurement products). Skills / Experience required: Senior electronics design engineer A degree or masters in a relevant subject area (e.g. electronics engineering) Experience of high-speed PCB board design for products used in high-speed networking applications – e.g. optical transceivers, network / data centre electronics, telecoms systems, storage / servers / HPC, consumer electronics or specialist test and measurement products Experience of FPGA design using VHDL (preferred) or System Verilog for FPGA development, with experience using Quartus and QuestaSim tools. Python or C# scripting for test kit control is advantageous. The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving, start-up organisation Knowledge of highspeed network interface and optical transceiver systems would be preferable Knowledge of high-speed serial interfaces, DAC, ADC peripherals utilising QPSI, DSPI, SPI, and high-speed electronics design (>60Ghz) would be excellent. The electronics design engineer role is based on site in Paignton, Devon 5 days per week. Relocation assistance and working visas may be possible for the right candidate
