We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Communication Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide highly effective, targeted support to pupils, ensuring they have optimal access to the curriculum and social experiences throughout the school day. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Facilitating communication between deaf pupils and their peers, teachers, and other adults within the school.
2. Promoting effective deaf awareness.
3. Supporting the school’s new BSL curriculum.
4. Assisting with extra-curricular activities and audiological support.
5. Supporting the development of pupils’ social and emotional needs.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of BSL Level 2, with a commitment to further training. You should possess a strong understanding of the impact of deafness on learning and development, and be able to demonstrate effective communication skills using a range of strategies. Experience in an educational setting is desirable, along with excellent IT skills and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. You will work closely with the Teacher of the Deaf and other staff members to ensure the inclusion and success of all pupils in line with our school’s ethos and values.
