Community Wellbeing Project Officer (Community Connector)
Adult and Older People’s Service
3 x 37 hour fixed term posts (due to end 31.03.2026)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our well-established Adult Community Team, which delivers services to achieve the best outcomes for a variety of people over the age of 18 who have care and support needs. We are looking for 3 highly motivated individuals to join our expanding Adult Community Teams.
This post provides a fantastic opportunity to work for Newcastle City Council at a very exciting time for us. We have recently adjusted our focus to work with individuals within their own localities across the city. The workers in these teams have the opportunity to build and maintain working relationships with the people, their carers, and the services in their area.
The aim is to bring the people we work with better opportunities and to help connect them with their neighbourhood – this increases people’s independence and reduces/delays their need for long-term services. This focus on neighbourhoods is a change in culture, and as part of our Community Connector scheme, you will help towards the development of a new way of working.
The role involves recognising, valuing, and building on the strengths of individuals, communities, associations, and services that strengthen relationships and connect people together. We want to provide people with better opportunities, improve their wellbeing, and connect them with their neighbourhoods.
The post holders will need to be creative, open to new thinking, and able to effect change. The post holders should be inspirational individuals who can bring people together across the city, embracing new ways of working to meet the needs of the people we support.
You need to:
1. Have the skills to connect and build collaboration across neighbourhoods.
2. Have knowledge of building links with Newcastle's voluntary and community sector, private industry, and reaching people who are not engaged.
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults. If you are successful, we will undertake additional recruitment checks, which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions and a check of police information.
In addition, you will receive:
1. A dedicated 10-day induction
2. Access to an induction and role-specific training
3. The support of a very experienced and supportive team, who are committed to improving outcomes for the adults we work with.
4. Generous annual leave in addition to Bank Holidays with the ability to buy additional leave annually.
5. Options for flexible and hybrid working.
6. Access to Mindfulness sessions and other wellbeing initiatives.
7. Access to a generous, defined benefit pension scheme.
