The postholder will be expected to support the Knowledge & Library Services Manager in the provision of the full range of library and information services to NHS staff and students in Somerset. Specific tasks will include: To plan, organise and deliver individual and group training to all grades of staff and students in access to evidence-based electronic resources, literature searching, health literacy skills and knowledge mobilisation. This can be within the library, in departments, off site or virtually via MS Teams, or local learning management system, LEAP. To assess and evaluate own performance via verbal and surveyed feedback mechanisms and to collect and analyse statistics pertaining to training delivered. To produce training materials and content for the library website (LibGuides). To undertake evidence searches for all grades of staff, interpreting their information needs, selecting appropriate sources, constructing search strategies, performing searches, and critically appraising search results. Also assess where customers have gone wrong with their own searches and provide a range of options to ensure success, this can often be under a time pressure or is an interruption to own work flow. Develop and update guides and information sheets to help library customers to undertake own searches. To promote the development of critical appraisal skills in the Trust by supporting local journal and reflective reading clubs /sessions and delivering training on it as required. To contribute to the current awareness services offered by the Library, critically appraising sources of information to be able to recommend quality sources to customers and library staff. Fully exploiting the KnowledgeShare current awareness service, and providing tailored bulletins should KnowledgeShare not meet individual needs. To contribute to and facilitate the outreach service development at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust in line with the KLS communication and marketing plan, by actively seeking opportunities to network with colleagues internally at the Trust, in order to introduce them to Knowledge & Library Services, such as by attending departmental or team meetings. Additionally, actively engaging with stakeholders outside the Trust such as Public Health Staff at SCC, Public Library Staff and other relevant stakeholders in the Somerset health care community/ICS. To assist the Knowledge & Library Services Manager with the collation of impact case studies, to evidence impact of library & knowledge services and enable improvements, to support the NHS KLS Quality & Improvement Outcomes Framework. T To contribute towards ensuring the specifications and standards applied to the library service from external bodies (NHS KLS Quality & Improvement Outcomes Framework, multi-professional education contract, Royal College requirements etc) are met. To deputise for the Knowledge & Library Services Manager when appropriate and be responsible for library services and its staff in their absence, acting as supervisor for the enquiry service ensuring that junior staff are adhering to all procedures and offering training, mentorship and advise where appropriate. Make decisions on customer eligibility and be prepared to handle complaints and grievances.
