Our vision is to create a sustainable world delivered through environmental consultancy. We work collaboratively with governments, businesses, and the third sector to help speed up the transition to a circular economy and manage resources and waste in a more sustainable way.
We are non-profit-distributing and have a close-knit team of 50+ trusted employees who collaborate across various areas of the business. Our multi-disciplined and connected approach sets us apart from the competition and enables us to build robust solutions that have a meaningful impact in the world.
We are passionate not only about what we do but how we do it, and we’re proud to be a part of the global B Corp movement to use business as a force for good. Employee-owned and independent, we’re all about helping each team member grow, and together striving towards our goal of creating a sustainable world. We are motivated by the impact of our work and how it feeds into wider issues of climate justice and the circular economy. Our work is far-ranging from supporting businesses to advising governments, as well as delivering the evidence to support global change and driving projects within communities on the ground.
The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven individual to work in our Waste Strategy team. We have an outstanding track record in supporting local authorities to improve their resources and waste management service; identifying financial savings, boosting recycling rates, and supporting them to achieve their Net Zero carbon targets. Our expertise includes waste and recycling service modelling, strategy development, kerbside collection and treatment contract procurement, recycling centre operations, waste composition analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
We are looking for a candidate with good data analytical skills to support our team in developing bespoke technical models to help guide local authorities in their strategic decision-making for future service design. You will have waste and resources-related experience and an understanding of the national policy landscape to contribute to developing and writing waste strategies linked to local plans and assist in the development of waste services procurement documentation.
An important aspect of our work lies in the communication of complex information to a range of audiences, including Elected Members. You will contribute to producing written reports and technical data books, and present project outputs at client meetings. You will also support business development activities, preparing bids, undertaking market research, and representing the company at events and meetings.
What you will be doing
1. Project delivery work: Working on a broad range of projects within the Waste Strategy team, you will conduct data analysis, research, and modelling work using a high degree of academic rigour and attention to detail. You will write and produce reports, tools, and other outputs as part of the work programme. You’ll be a confident presenter, assisting the team in workshop and focus group facilitation, and will present complex data outputs to clients as required.
2. Business development: All members of our team are involved in our business development activities. You will contribute to the preparation of proposals and assist in identifying new business such as potential new projects or funding opportunities. With colleagues, you will also work to improve existing services and products, and to develop new ones.
3. Resources and autonomy: You will ensure that projects meet deadlines and are within budget. This will require you to work on multiple projects concurrently so good time management and resourcefulness will be essential.
4. Client engagement: Liaise with clients for project delivery, attending external meetings, focus groups, workshops, and presentations, and industry events as required.
5. Data analysis: Liaise with clients using qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures.
