Brewery Laboratory Technician Vacancy - Middleton, Manchester
JW Lees has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join the Brewing team based at our Greengate Brewery in Manchester. The main objective of the Laboratory Technician role is to facilitate and report on physical and microbiological analyses at all stages of production within the Brewing and Packaging processes.

Responsibilities include:
* Organising the efficient running of the laboratory for physical and micro analysis.
* To take or organise the taking of samples in conjunction with departmental managers.
* Carry out physical analysis and microbial analysis of samples.
* Co-ordinate and participate in weekly tasting panels for quality assurance.
* To report on analysis highlighting out of specification results and analyse results from trends.
* Ensuring that all procedures and specifications outlined in the ISO 9001 quality manuals are adhered to and assist with the ongoing procedures that are integral to that manual.
* Monitor and track fermentations daily as well as assist maintaining yeast health and stock.
* Maintain and contribute to proficiency testing schemes (ILCS/BAPs).
* Present monthly reports to Quality Assurance team.
* Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of results to meet production demands.
* Properly maintain lab equipment, including calibrating, cleaning, sanitizing and repair when necessary. Work with vendors to maintain and repair laboratory equipment.
* Maintain working knowledge of entire brewery processes and procedures so that quality issues can be effectively monitored and resolved.
* Assist with the training of staff within the Laboratory.
* Support other brewery departments as and when is required.
* Running the tasting panel.
Requirements:
* Either educated to a University Degree level within a science discipline (Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology) or established experience working within a laboratory environment.
* High levels of accuracy, attention to detail and self-motivation.
* Excellent time management, communication, organisation and prioritisation skills.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages.
