We are seeking a Finance Manager to support our Financial Controller in the delivery of accurate management, financial information and statutory reporting. You will be working as part of the core finance team and demonstrating detailed knowledge of the entire nominal ledger.
This is an interesting and broad role, supported by an Assistant Management Accountant, encompassing management accounting, budgeting and forecasting and payroll reporting.
This role will involve working with a broad range of individuals, including Operational Directors, external Auditors, Accounts Payable and Payroll Teams.

Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Our offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.
Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:
* Taking ownership of all ‘costs’ (i.e. full P&L and BS ownership excluding revenue/provisions/Members Interests) in the general ledger.
* Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, raising timely queries and following through issues to resolution or escalation as appropriate.
* Proactively investigating issues and discrepancies, taking problems through to solutions and escalating when appropriate.
* Acting as a key contact for audit, responsible for the production of the year end audit files and liaison for the statutory audit on a day-to-day basis.
* Collaborating with the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager in preparation of the firm’s annual budget, working with the Operational Directors to create and present the proposed departmental budgets.
* Forecasting spend against budget on a quarterly basis.
* Acting as a key business partner for our Operational Directors, working with them to understand their monthly results, highlighting issues they need to investigate and helping resolve any queries they have.
* Taking ownership of all payroll related postings, including ensuring all individuals are accounted for in the correct teams and locations.
* Working with the Tax Account to understand tax rules on benefits to ensure budget holders factor tax charges into events.
* Approaching work with an attitude of continual improvement, working with the FP&A Manager to overhaul many of the processes and reports that we produce as a Management Accounting team.
* Constantly improving the efficiency and accuracy of what we do to support ongoing business change and growth.
* Developing the Assistant Management Accountant and delegating appropriate tasks, ensuring they are fully supported to be able to complete the tasks and that the results are reviewed in detail.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with data security and all firm policies and procedures.
This role is right for you if:
* ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (ideally first time passes).
* At least 3 years post qualified experience.
* Management Accounting experience to include preparing management accounts from TB through to final P&L and Balance Sheet with variance analysis.
* Experience of Financial Reporting and/or Payroll is desirable.
* Up to date technical knowledge of relevant accounting.
* Competent and confident user of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel – should be comfortable using a range of formulas and working with large spreadsheets.
* Ability to prioritise workload and work closely to deadlines with minimum supervision and under pressure.
* Desire to take responsibility and personal ownership for all elements of the finances.
* A real willingness to roll up sleeves and get into the nitty gritty of a task.
* A self-starter; able to operate using high level of autonomy.
* Tenacious attitude and proactive approach in particular is crucial.
Used to delivering high quality output to strict deadlines.
