Post: Principal Finance Officer
Salary: Grade 11 £47,420 - £50,512 pa
Location: Hull
Hull City Council is the unitary authority and governing body for the city of Kingston upon Hull. As a unitary authority, it handles all local government functions undertaken within its area.
The financial management team supports all key Council services, one of which this position will be responsible for supporting. This role is key to the successful management and delivery of the Council's finances and financial obligations.
The successful post holder will:
1. Manage and provide financial input to the strategy for Assistant Directors.
2. Lead the provision of financial support and guidance to ensure statutory requirements for financial management and accountability are met.
3. Ensure projects are delivered in line with financial regulations and deliver value for money for the Council.
4. Act as the coordinating officer for Business Finance, managing the processes around assessing and prioritizing existing and incoming demands.
5. Allocate tasks to particular finance staff at certain levels.
This is a permanent role, and the successful post holder will be a CCAB qualified Accountant who can demonstrate competencies across the following areas:
1. Management experience which demonstrates the ability to initiate, plan, monitor, develop and implement service provision.
2. Experience in managing complex data and information from a variety of sources, and ability to analyze and interpret performance data.
3. Possesses a detailed understanding of methods, systems and procedures, technical practices to manage areas of operational services.
4. Experience of supporting the management of a substantial amount of financial, people and other resources.
5. Experience of successfully leading a team of staff.
