We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Suffolk Initial Training and CPD team as a Staff Initial Trainer and CPD Officer.
Principle purpose of the role:
To design, deliver and implement a range of creative and innovative operational learning initiatives, specifically for Police Officer and Staff colleagues, to improve the capability of the workforce and their ability to meet strategic goals and service plans, and to respond to organisational change.
Main activities of the role (This list is not exhaustive)
1. Design, facilitate and deliver innovative, inclusive, inspirational training, utilising the 70/20/10 training delivery model aligned to organisational strategy, to ensure an increase in operational performance and capability in Professional Policing.
2. Contribute to the Constabulary's defined programmes of Student Officer, Detective, Police Officer and Police Staff intakes to ensure that they meet organisational needs and objectives through coaching, monitoring and evaluation.
3. Contribute to a programme of refresher training interventions for existing officers to equip them with the skills, knowledge and aptitudes to meet the needs of the organisation, as well as current legal and statutory guidelines.
4. Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management.
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
1. Demonstrate relevant experience in a learning or teaching environment.
2. Experience in the design and evaluation of learning interventions.
3. Knowledge and understanding of the operation of the Police Service and related regulations.
4. Effective coaching and presentation skills.
5. Planning and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, effectively managing competing priorities with available resources.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with partners and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
7. Able to travel and work within Norfolk and Suffolk and further afield if necessary.
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
1. Demonstrate subject matter experience at expert level in one or more of the following learning areas:
Student Officer Training or support (IPLDP)
Special Constabulary Training and/or Support (IL4SC)
Police Entry Qualification Framework
First Aid
ICT Training/Delivery
2. Understand Force Policy, legislation, powers and procedure to develop students’ capability around effective digital policing investigations.
