Position overview: The internal company Paralegal at SCIRIS will hold a stand-alone role within the organisation, reporting directly to the director of operations. This pivotal position will provide legal support and assistance across the business, serving as the main and sole team member responsible for reviewing legal literature for the group. Key responsibilities: Legal research and analysis: Conduct legal research on various matters relevant to the company's operations, including regulatory compliance, contract law, employment law, intellectual property law, and other areas as required. Analyse legal issues and provide recommendations to company executives and stakeholders. Contract management: Assist in the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts and agreements, such as vendor contracts, customer agreements, employment contracts, and nondisclosure agreements. Manage the company's contract database and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Corporate governance: Support corporate governance activities, including drafting board resolutions, maintaining corporate records, and ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements under company law. Assist with the organisation of board meetings and the preparation of meeting materials. Compliance and regulatory matters: Assist with compliance efforts related to laws and regulations applicable to the company's industry, such as data protection regulations, anti-bribery laws, health and safety regulations, and environmental regulations. Conduct compliance audits and implement compliance training programs for employees. Litigation support: Provide support to external counsel in litigation matters involving the company, including document management, witness preparation, and assistance with discovery requests. Coordinate responses to legal claims and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary. Intellectual property management: Assist in the management and protection of the company's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets. Conduct trademark searches, prepare trademark applications, and monitor trademark infringements. Risk management: Identify legal risks and potential liabilities for the company and develop strategies to mitigate those risks. Advise management on legal implications of business decisions and proposed actions. Regulatory filings and compliance reporting: Assist in the preparation and filing of regulatory submissions and compliance reports required by government agencies or regulatory bodies. Ensure timely and accurate submission of required documentation. Training and education: Provide legal training and education to employees on relevant legal topics and compliance issues. Develop training materials and conduct training sessions as needed. General legal support: Provide general administrative and legal support to the legal department and other departments within the company as needed. Manage legal correspondence, maintain legal files, and coordinate meetings and appointments. Ethical conduct: Adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines set by relevant regulatory bodies and industry associations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in law, legal studies, or related field. Ideally, previous experience in a legal role, preferably in corporate law.
