As a WAN Network Architect, you’ll play a pivotal role within a dynamic, multidisciplinary engineering team - designing, maintaining, and strengthening the critical network infrastructure that underpins the UK's National Security.
The Role:
You will take on the responsibilities of a Networking Technical Lead, driving the development of secure and resilient networking systems. This includes creating network designs, producing detailed configuration documentation, and leading governance reviews with precision and expertise.
However, your contribution won’t stop at design. You’ll also play a hands-on role in technical configuration, implementation, and ensuring seamless service handovers - delivering networks that are dependable, scalable, and built for the future.
Essential Requirements:
* Sole British UK National with active SC or DV (Developed Vetting) clearance.
* Over 10 years of experience in networking, including at least 3 years in a design or architect role - ideal for Network Design Engineers ready to transition into architecture.
* Proven expertise with Cisco and Juniper technologies, with the ability to create detailed high- and low-level design documentation.
* Strong foundational knowledge of networking, backed by certifications such as CCNA, CCNP (Cisco), and JNCIS-ENT (Juniper).
* Advanced understanding of WAN routing protocols (MPLS, BGP, IS-IS), along with proficiency in IPsec, GRE, and encryption.
* Hands-on experience with Juniper products (SRX, MX) and JUNOS OS, plus significant expertise in LAN switching using Juniper EX and Cisco switches.
* Demonstrated skills in network operations, troubleshooting, and a deep understanding of the networking service lifecycle—from initial requirements to full implementation.
* Strong communication skills for customer-facing roles, including leading meetings, conducting documentation reviews, and managing security services to ensure seamless transitions into operational environments.

* Base Salary: Up to £70,000
* DV Bonus: 10%- If holding DV
