Clinical Education Practitioner - Chertsey
As the Trust evolves to continue supporting the education and development of our people, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for two proactive and enthusiastic clinicians to undertake the Clinical Education Practitioner role.
This role aligns a range of portfolios within education, and focuses on the importance of practice-based education and clinical development, ensuring that all our clinical colleagues are supported with their induction, career-development, professional development, and individual needs.
Based: post-holder will be allocated a specific dispatch desk in Chertsey. Post-holder will be expected to travel across the Trust’s geographical area as required in order to meet objectives.
Working pattern: post-holders will work a rolling four-on-four-off rota pattern. Unsocial hours will be paid in line with Agenda for Change.
Hours of work: Posts are available as full-time or fractional (part time) appointments, and flexible working requests will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The role will focus on supporting new and existing clinicians within the Trust to deliver the requirements of their role, as well as to develop clinically and professionally with a strong focus on career-long learning.
Post-holders will work across all four areas of practice: education, management and leadership, clinical practice, and research and development.
Working within a larger team, post-holders will be expected to deliver a range of strategic objectives, with the time spent on each to be agreed between the post-holder and their line manager:
1. Course delivery: the focus of these vacancies will be the Trust’s Key Skills Programme from a course delivery perspective.
2. Portfolio lead / project management: these vacancies will focus on the support of learners and clinical colleagues within an allocated Dispatch Desk (to be confirmed with post-holder on appointment).
3. Clinical practice: as appropriate to the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this may include working on Double Crewed Ambulances, undertaking PACCS clinician work, working within the Trust’s call centres, or undertaking specialist practice roles.
4. Scholarly activities: to include personal development, research, developing communities of practice, and supporting local initiatives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two keen and proactive clinicians to support the education of colleagues within South East Coast Ambulance Service. This would suit a highly motivated and adaptable individual who is passionate about the support and development of clinical staff.
Clinical Education is entering an exciting phase of development in an ever changing and evolving environment. This role has the ability to shape the future careers of ambulance service staff as well as promoting the highest standard of education delivery for the Trust. This is an important role in the delivery of the clinical education strategy.
The post holder will perform a key role in the clinical and professional development of staff whilst promoting best clinical practice across the range of ambulance duties. The role will also involve aspects of operational support in front-line duties, working with learners on a range of programmes and other staff.
The successful applicant will be expected to use highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to develop, support and motivate individuals and groups within the learning environment. An ability to develop and maintain excellent inter-professional partnership working with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally will be required in this role.
There is a requirement for the applicant to be educated to graduate level or possess a similar standard of knowledge, skills and experience and be a HCPC registered paramedic who has completed preceptorship. Training qualifications and experience of working within an education environment are desirable but not essential, however the post holder should be enthusiastic about the development of others and keen to work towards a recognised training qualification.

* HCPC Registered Paramedic
* Educated to graduate level (or similar knowledge, skills and experience)
* Holds a level 3 or greater teaching qualification (such as L3AET)
* Holds a level 3 or greater assessing qualification (such as L3CAVA)
* Holds a Post Graduate Certificate (PGCert) relating to teaching and learning
Experience
* At least one years’ experience of working as an experienced paramedic (i.e. one year post completion of preceptorship).
* Evidence of supporting learners in a clinical environment.
* Experience in teaching, training or education delivery.
* Experience of Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) procedures within an educational environment.
Skills
* Able to fulfil the requirements of the SECAmb Experienced (band 6) Paramedic job description.
* Highly developed interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills (including presenting).
* Ability to communicate important and sensitive information to both individuals and large groups.
* Well-developed creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Full UK driving licence including C1 category.
Please note that the salary range noted on the vacancy is in line with agenda for change (AFC) pay scales. All successful applicants would be placed automatically at the bottom of the banding, unless proven, relevant NHS or equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
